Chiropractic is a regulated primary healthcare profession. Our Associate Chiropractor Glen is trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of your musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on your nervous system and general health. Chiropractors are best known for their specialist interest in treating neck and back pain and are trained to treat problems throughout the entire body.

Our patients consult us for a range of conditions which include:
Lower back pain including sciatica
Neck pain
Cervicogenic headaches (arising from the neck) and migraine prevention
Generalised aches and pains
Joint pains
Elbow pains and tennis elbow
Ankle sprain
Rotator cuff injuries and soft tissue conditions of the shoulder
Minor sports injuries and tensions
Muscle spasms/cramp
Tension and inability to relax
Plantar fasciitis

Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat you without the need for a referral from another practitioner (such as your GP).

What to expect at a session:
At your initial chiropractic consultation, your chiropractor will ask you to explain how your pain began, and what it means to you to make sure we understand the impact your pain has been having on your life. You’ll be able to talk through any historic elements that you think may have had an impact on the current problem. This will help your chiropractor to create a treatment plan suited for you and ensure that you achieve the goals you want from care.

Our Chiropractors understand what pain and problems you can encounter as a result of day to day stress or injuries. As part of your treatment programme, your chiropractor will work to help restore your normal function and relieve pain. In doing so, chiropractic care can help relieve the pain and discomfort that arises from injury, stress, poor posture, lack of exercise and every day strains! Your treatment programme may include manual therapy (adjustments of your spine and joints), soft tissue work, acupuncture, exercises and other techniques. Our treatment plans include self-help advice, and personalised exercise programmes.

Care is suitable for all ages- from the very young to the very old!

Whilst you might come to see us for lower back and neck pain, you can also see us for help with a range of other problems related to the muscles, joints and nerves in any part of your body. Your chiropractor will take your entire physical and psychological wellbeing into account as this can have an impact on your pain and response to care. Remember, chiropractors don’t just relieve pain- we help you take control of it.

Glen comes from an emergency medicine background as he has spent the last 8 years working as part of an ambulance crew, bringing vital care and medical intervention across Hampshire. While this career has been extremely rewarding and provided great personal development in medical knowledge, communication and patient management, it was time for a change.

Four years ago Glen came to Acorn Health as a patient while still with the ambulance service but curious about the Chiropractic profession. Not only did he get help with his back pain, but he was deeply impressed by the attitude and passion of everyone involved in his care and it was the last little nudge needed to start his own chiropractic journey.

In the last four years Glen has attended AECC University and completed his masters of Chiropractic qualification. While at university he has engaged in his studies at every opportunity including volunteering to assist in the teaching of lower year students, taken a key role in Implementing and delivering NHS health checks in the university clinic and been heavily involved in open days and outreach as well as supporting the student body as an active member of the Student Union. Additionally, he has maintained a part time contract with the ambulance service alongside his study so he is certainly no stranger to being busy and putting in hard work.

Glen is now incredibly excited to be able to deliver chiropractic care to the community using an evidence informed approach to care. He will be completing a post registration training program with the Royal College of Chiropractors, as well as getting stuck in with further courses to constantly grow his skill base even further.
